The Frankenturbo B5 Progress Thread
Whats up guys, my names John and I drive an 01 A4 1.8TQM. I've had it since November when I traded my 94 Blazer for it. Ive been doing a decent amount of work to it recently so I figured I'd post up a thread, I always love reading other peoples threads.
And yes the previous owner did the full timing belt service right before I bought it, pictures and receipts to prove!
I bought it with some parts already on it such as:

Euro stubby passenger mirror (put stock back on)
M3 trunk lip
Shaved center molding
S4 sides
Interior
S4 black interior

Camo wrapped door trim
Podi column boost gauge
All weather Audi sport floor mats

K&N Panel filter
Extra Parts
CXRacing FMIC with 2.5" universal piping
Clutch masters FX300 clutch kit and new flywheel (sold)
Winter wheels (AT Italia S5)

Since then I have installed a few parts and done a few things such as

K&N Panel filter
Fuel filter
Cabin filter
NGK Spark Plugs
SAI, N249, N112 deletes
Installed CXRacing FMIC and cut up bumper
Cleaned up the headlights some, want to do some more
Painted the BBS' gunmetal
Now some pictures! (I am by no means a photographer AT ALL and the pictures will reflect this, any tips welcomed)
A few days after I bought it at school, didnt even wash it yet
From a quick shoot I did
I got lucky and got a sweet sunset picture
I have always liked this one
EURO plate
Interior
And now the FMIC install
At Island Import Day 3/18
And I just painted my wheels, some pictures of that:
Little sanding prep
Painted and stacked up to dry
Ready to put on
On the car!
And really the only decent picture I have of them on the car right now
And thats my B5! Any thoughts, opinions, critisims, compliments, ideas whatever is welcome. Thanks for looking.

Im happy with the Frankenturbo. I bought the car with it already on it, if I bought a stock Audi I might have gone with the GTRS. I dont really know much about it since I already had the FT. But for a responsive, reliable, fun, quick daily driver I am satisfied with this. Pulls very nice in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and enough power for me to have fun on the highway. Ive also never been in a GTRS or BT Audi.

Had a little road trip this weekend with her.
Friday morning I left at 6:30am heading for Redline Speed Worx in Washington, NJ for an alignment on the Hunter alignment rack they have. Awesome shop, awesome guys, very happy with the service they provide. Ryan showed me around the shop and they are a friendly bunch of guys and have some cool **** in there! They could only align the rear though because both of my front tie rod assemblies are frozen -.-. I am going to pick up some S4 ones eventually and throw them in. They charged me half price for the alignment which is very fair. Overall I would recommend them 100%.
From there I went to Maryland to visit some family and just got back about 2 hours ago. Audi drove so smooth, just scraped on some roads really bad near NYC! I need to buy a skid plate...

On another note... I am kind of conflicted right now. I dont know if I should keep going with this car (mod wise) and enjoy it OR start to save up for my dream car (Z32 300zx) for a second car/toy.
If I keep modding the Audi brakes are next and thats $750 for everything. Then suspension... which I dont even want to think about yet.
If I start to save for the Z32 I would stop modding the Audi and just keep it clean and keep doing the maintanence that comes up on it and take care of it. But a Z will be a long ways away... a year or two.
Let the argument commence!
P.S. I ordered a DDM Tuning 55w 5000k HID kit for her today hahahahaha

I have a Z32. I've owned it for about 5 years now. It's an NA, but I've been looking for a TT. And I have to say that although I like my Audi, I love my Z. But, in the snow the Z will just spin the tires and the Audi has no problems. If you're looking for something sporty and fun, I would go for the Z32 TT. Although it seems a bit childish, I like to spin the tires sometimes or kick the back end out some in a turn and it's just not the same in a quattro. Plus the Z32 has a huge following and you can find out about anything you need to in the forums because more than likely someone else has done or tried it and can give advice. And with a few bolt-ons on a stock TT you can be looking at about 400hp. That's just what I think. I know some people will disagree with me.

If I had a Z I would store it for winter, no way it would see snow. And I know them like the back of my hand inside and out, I've flipped two Z32's and worked on a few friends cars so I am familiar with them.

Let me know what you think
Heres the first pic she sent me, I'll post more as I get them
