Former B5 A4 owner, whats next?
My first love, my 1998 1.8t A4 Quattro has failed for the second time (first time melted piston cylinder 2, second time threw a rod,[I'm thinking cylinder 2 going by the position of the hole created on the new-used long block after the replacement break in clutch period]) The car had a frankenturbo and a speedtuning tune throughout.
Fast forward a few years and kids later, I have a 2nd gen Ford Fusion Titanium 2.0 Turbo, among others un-noteworthy vehicles, I am missing the lightweight (in comparison) manual b5 A4.
Going forward, I feel that newer DBW with wideband sensors would have saved my ***, I feel like that is necessary.
Next vehicle I'm thinking 2020 Ford Explorer ST because I really do need the space for 3 under 3 but I also want a "safe" comparable toy for me to invest in.

Well if you are looking for a B5 then the DBW WB 2001 is really the only choice. I too have a FT with water meth injection and Motoza custom tuning and it has served me well for the past 3-4 years. If you can find a low mileage one, it should only run you a couple thousand.
If you’re not looking and wanted to check in, there’s not many of us around. I currently have two other 2001’s that I saved from the junker and now my kid is just starting to drive one. You are a ways from that still but my daily has never left me stranded since I bought it in 2009. Good luck with whatever decision you make.
