alright well i didnt have a washer handy that would do the job, but i stretched the spring out a bit. i know not the best thing to do, but it seemed to do the trick at least for now. i then put it back together and applied 25 in.Hg of vacuum, and it appeared to stay closed. i wonder how long that will last though...

i managed to make it to work okay without stalling or anything. but one thing i did notice is that it now seems quieter than it was before. although that might have just been because it was raining so there was a lot of other road noise, etc.

Idk man, you def want to make sure it's opening fully when it's supposed to your you'll get compressor stall=bad for your turbo!

yea, i might have traded one problem for another. i didnt stretch the large spring though (its the yellow one, 15-23psi) so i dont think it would have an effect on the opening of the valve.

thinking about it another way, when it was not staying closed properly before, it might have been louder than it should have been in the first place

i guess im just gonna have to call forge and talk to a technician or something. might be a good idea to just buy a new spring kit and rebuild it

I guess if the sound of the BOV is that imoprtant to you! Did you take out a stock DV or was it aftermarket? I was gunna say if you took out a different Forge DV like an 007, Id trade you my Forge splitr. I use it as 100% recirc anyways.

well its not that the sound is important to me... but i dont want it to be hurting my turbo if i destroyed the secondary spring by stretching it out.

the one i replaced was an upgraded OEM valve that was installed when the chip was installed (before i bought the car). im not sure what model it is, it just says bosch on it.

i talked to someone at forge (i think Mike was his name) and he said I should check with APR to make sure their chip tuning works with an atmospheric BOV. i tried to explain how the 2000+ audi's will adjust because of the MAP sensor etc but i guess i dont know enough of the details to sound convincing. i'll call APR just for ***** and see what they say

Yeah you probably have a 710N dv. Seriously though, if you arent doing it for the sound, just throw the 710N back in! Don't be ashamed to like the PSHSSHSHSHHH though.. I liked after I got my splitr. Eventaully it got super annoying though, but thats just me.

well i obviously like the sound or else i wouldnt bother with at 004 right? i was just saying before that buying a spring kit and rebuilding it would not be to make it louder, but to make sure that its functioning 100% the way it should. i bought it used so who knows what the previous owner(s) may have done to it?

on my drive out for lunch the car worked flawlessly. didnt stall once, it never even ran rough between any shifts. with the exception of it being not as loud as it was before i took it apart and messed with it, i would say its fixed. but i'll update this thread if anything changes. thanks for all the help everyone
