Flex pipe leak
The other day i could here an exhaust leak so today i brought it in to school lifted it and the flex pipe is crap. Its a 96 2.8 and seems that you have to replace the cat with it. I dont know to much of test pipes. But I was thinkn of just doing test pipes rather then new cats. Do you still need the flex pipe for the test pipes? Any other info would be helpful i looked it up but i didnt find to much for test pipes on 2.8's.

RE: Flex pipe leak
[align=left]My entire flex joint fell off last summer. I don't really do that much work on my car, so I took it into a local muffler shop. They welded a new one on and guaranteed it for a year for $100 even.
Before that, the Audi dealership wanted to replace the entire downpipe. They couldn't unscrew the bolts holding on what was left of the pipe, and then wanted to charge me $450 to drop the engine. I told em to screw off. Dealerships suck.

RE: Flex pipe leak
if i remember correctly from when i did my carit was a 2.25" pipe but just to be sure get under there and with a string wrap around the pipe and measure it then take the length and divide by pi. for a quick dont go to ECS, theyre good buck some thing they suck on with pricing just go to the local auto store and grab some flex pipes that are lik 3-5" and cut and weld what oyu need.
