Finaly!!
I finaly found a 1998 a4 where the engine was blown
the guy was a friend of a friend so he gave it to me for 1200
so now all i have to do is order the 1.8t and hopefully ill still have money left over for the
gt28rs
does anyone have suggestions on anything else i should be mindful of when putting the new engine in? im not sure if ill need a new tranny on or not?
the car had 136,000 km so 84,000 miles so im not sure if i would need it or if it would be wise to replace anyways?

RE: Finaly!!
when you replace the motor...you should do;
a new clutch/LWfw
new snub mount
new motor mounts
new tranny mounts
bolt the exhaust mani on before install
bolt the turbo on before install
bolt a high flow cat or DP on before install
replace timing belt
replace belt tensioner
replace water pump
^ those wer just off the top of my head, I am sure there are a few things I am forgetting...lol
this would also be the best time to get it into a machine shop for port/polish/balancing, maybe some scat rods, forged heads...new gaskets all the way around...possibly a nice cam, maybe some lightweight pulleys....

RE: Finaly!!
a vr6-t would cost a bit more than what he's got left, and if he didn't do the work himself he's nowhere close. if i were you, i would build the engine and drop in a bigger turbo. but if all you want is 310whp, a 28rs will get you there

RE: Finaly!!
yea i had thought about the vr6 drop into it but i just really like the 1.8t engine and the power i want is around my price range and such
and no i plan on getting my friend who owns a shop to do it for me so it wont be done myself haha
im not that mechanically inclined but he said i could help him and learn if i want to so i think im going to take him up on that offer
plus my 9500 is canadian and in canada everything is so much more expensive
