Default Feel of my new clutch

Hi,

Recently I got a new clutch installed on my 01 a4 1.8tqm.

The clutch engages at about half the pedal, is this normal? Should it still engage high like the old worn out clutch I had?

Another thing, when I first got it last friday it engaged nicely but now it has a soft release area right after it engages which causes a jerky shift. Is the clutch supposed to act weird as it settles with the new flywheel or should I bring it back?

FYI, a stock clutch + bearing was installed and the flywheel was machined.

Thanks,
Mike

I just replaced my clutch too and was also expecting a high engagement on the pedal. It engages at the middle. Certainly nothing to worry about. Give it a few hundred miles to wear in before you start worrying about anything.

you might need to bleed the slave cylinder to get rid of the soft feel
