Default Exhaust Question

So today I went by my local exhaust shop to see about a custom exhaust and I had them order me a magnaflow muffler part 14807 with 2.5in pipes from the catback. I was just wondering if you think I should keep the resonator or have them take it off. Will there be a loud drone on the highway without it? I really don't want my exhaust to sound ricey. Any help is appreciated.

I took my resonator off the old fashioned way, with a sawzall =O. I left the stock muffler on and it doesn't sound too bad, it'll give you a deep bass note when your cruising and I personally don't think it sounds too ricey.

Here, I have a different exhaust company but it will still show you the difference between having the resonator and no resonator. Also, Im assuming you have a 2.8, and i'm thinking that 2.5in is a little big is you are having 2 pipes all the way back, if one, than thats probably good. A guy with a 2.8 A6 ran true dual 2.5in pipes all the way back to his magnaflows and lost all his low end torque.

The car is louder and IMO sounds WAY better, there is a slight resonance between 1500 and 3000 but is nowhere near a drone. Kind of dissapears when your off the throttle. If I were you, I would remove the resonator.

Thanks for the replies. I should have been more clear. It is a 1.8t and one single 2.5in pipe.

No problem, single 2.5 is probably good. I would do what I did with mine, keep resonator at first and if you want to go louder, then get it cut out.
