Error codes after cleaning MAF Sensor. Please Guide me!!
Hi friends,
I'm new to this forum. I have a 1998 Audi A4 1.8T and the CEL came ON last week saying that car is running too lean ( P1136- Maf Sensor Failure).
So I bought the MAF sensor cleaner from Autozone and cleaned it today.
After driving 10 miles CEL came back ON. The codes are;
16684- Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
16688- Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected
This is the first time I'm getting these codes and happend RIGHT after CLEANING maf sensors.
So will this be a problem of the MAF sensors itself? Shall I go ahead and replace the maf sensor?
Please advise.

I don't see how misfire codes would be related to your MAF sensor. Its actually a good thing that the MAF code didn't come back!
Reset the new codes and see if any of them come back. Its possible you dicked something up while messing around under the hood with the MAF wiring. I forget, did the 98 have an ICM on top of the airbox? I would be willing to bet that you pissed it off when you had the airbox apart to clean the MAF
