Im talking about a PWR or Forge cores. PWR has evo cores that more than handle than what anyone on here (besides yours of course) will need. They have some that are for 400 and then 700cfm that will be more than capable to handle a elim. They even have cores that can handle 900cfm and even 1300cfm. Then if you want something thinner, a forge core will be 2.37" thick which should really cut down on cutting and again be more than enough for a stock to gtrs.

BTW, the VW greddy cores are the same way, they use a tube and fin core for the smaller ic kit and then use a garrett style core for the larger kit. The t&f core is only good for about 300whp and above that it cant keep up. The bar and plate core works great even on a gt3071r and just past 400whp

Yes, but the point was why use a larger less efficient core when a smaller core can be used. I can see it if people are just trying to fill a large opening for a very small turbo. But the fact is still there, the tube/fin is going to have more pressure drop and be less efficient. This is why most people end up using a bar/plate core.

BTW yes I know you were talking about PWR, their shop in socalis no more then 5 minutes from my house.

Trust me, im a big fan of the garrett bar and plate cores, they are the best. Also since they are so dense they dont need to be massive like an ebay core(which still wont cool as well) or tube and fin. But the tube and fin cores flow much better than a bar and plate core of equal size since there is less obstruction. This allows them to be larger and have more rows for cooling (which i know you know). I will be running a Precision 600hp core on my car here soon but i can fit it on my TT w/ little to no cutting, but since A4's cant, a nice tube and fin will be an easier install since you can get them under 3" thick (which no garrett is). Getting one to flow 400hp isnt to hard either and would be perfect for all those running stock to 71r's on the street daily.

Just for clarity, im not saying they are better in any way, because i dont believe that, just that they may be a better fit for an A4 do to its space restraints.

Ok, sorry, done hijacking thread.

How can you say there isn't any Garrett BP cores under 3"?

Garrett Part # 753447-6001
22 x 6.3 x 2.3" rated for 320hp

I am sure I could get Fred at ER to make that size core to fit behind the stock A4 bumper if people really wanted it. Problem is that the core might be too long at 22" which would put it at around 28" with the end tanks.

I just havent seen any smaller. But like you said, 22" is long, only if it went 18x8x2.3 it would be better.

IIRC my 3" core I had was right around 20 long.

So a 22" might work if Fred at ER does the front of the end tanks angle back and the inlets also angle back. Only way anyone will find out is if someone does it.
