Default EPC Light on help?!

The problem with the car before is that it was automatically shutting down while driving and it was throwing P1419 code which was ECT sensor going bad, which I replaced that and it was working perfectly fine until about a month and the problem started happening again.

It should shut off and the EPC light would come on with the check engine light.

I'm thinking could it be a bad MAF? I disconnected the battery to try and reset the code but it went away for a day and the next day it started happening again.

What else could be wrong?

Thanks

99% sure it's your MAF.....it can cause a complete engine shut down, hesitation etc....it contains a bunch of sensitive resistors, they heat up and as air flows by and cool.....

my other 1% hahahahaha, what year is your car? Later models of B5s also have a MAP sensor, so your car would still run even if your MAF is bad.....so it could also be your throttle body, but replacing the MAF is cheaper than doing the whole throttle body....and it's a better guess on my part since they do occasionally fail....

Havent gotten a chance to check out the MAF yet, but I did notice there is a slight hesitation when accelerating.

Replaced the MAF and like Keegan said I started the car and let it idle with the MAF unplugged and it turned off. So replaced the MAF and well see.

Thats odd, cause I got my 1.8 running enough to drive it N/A for a parts store run by running mafless. My guess is scan for codes and see if its your coolant temp sensor
