ECM Question
Does anyone know or have a diagram of the pin layout of the ECM or the connectors that go into it?
I’m trying to figure out what wire the ECT(engine control temperature) sensor is so i can splice it.
By the way I have a 98 1.8T FWD automatic.
Thanks

RE: ECM Question
the engine coolant temperature sensor is located behind the engine(close to firewall)below the crank case vent line.
I dont feel like cutting the harness apart just to find one wire. And i need to splice the wire at the ECM connector because the rest of the wire has been coroded with coolant.
any suggestions?

RE: ECM Question
Anyway...Heres a picture of the smaller connector going into the ECM. As you see, theres 2 terminals that have coolant residue, i just want to make sure which one is the engine coolant temperature sensor. I dont know why theres 2. Correct me if im wrong, but I thought one wire goes to the ECM and the other to the Instument Cluster and the other 2 wires were used as ground.

RE: ECM Question
Im not sure either but how the mechanic said that basically, when the car overheated, the coolant built up too much pressure and it seeped through the wiring and into the ecm and instrument cluster. And as you can see,i had put in generic coolant instead of g12.[:'(]

RE: ECM Question
Yes, I am replacing the sensor as well as the connector and new wires up until the ECM connector.
I went to a junkyard and ninja’d a connector off a Volkswagen and went ahead and spliced 18 gauge wires onto it.
All there is to do is to connect my new wiring harness onto the ECM and into the Instrument Cluster.
