Ebay turbo installation 1.8T, List of PARTS to replace???
Hi,
I am getting a new turbo for my 98' Audi A4 1.8T. The car has 205k miles on it and turbo is not blown yet. But there is no boost and turbo is consuming lot of oil. Mechanic figured out that turbo is going bad and need to replace.
So I'm planning to get an OEM replacement turbo from ebay.
My concerns are;
1.Will a new turbo cause damage to an old engine?
2. What all parts do i need to replace when putting new turbo? ( N75 valve, oil liners etc??)
Please reply. Thanks

My suggestion is to not get a turbo from eBay.
Quote from intelligent person "Don't ever buy a turbo setup off ebay. Most of them are glued together or have other crappy parts, especially the exhaust manifold." - chaos92287

There are a lot of GREAT and informative FAQ's on this website that will answer most of your questions, I suggest you read through them, you will learn a lot about these cars.
But I will say (like srlito said) that Ebay turbos are badnewsbears. They're usually poorly balanced and made of substandard materials, they will break, and they can damage your engine. Also a new turbo will not do any damage to your 200k+ engine as long as it is a DIRECT STOCK replacement (i.e. no upgrades).

Thanks for the fast replies.
I AM NOT GETTING CHEAP EBAY TURBOS after reading your suggestions above.
I found this remanufactured borg warner turbo on ebay;
KKK K03 Rebuilt Turbocharger VW Passat 1.8T Turbo | eBay
And a new borg warner
GENUINE NEW BORG WARNER TURBOCHARGER VW PASSAT AUDI A4 | eBay
How about these two?
Also can somebody tell about gaskets and other parts I need to replace while putting new turbo?
