Durability of 1.8T

Durability of 1.8T
I just bought a 1998 A4 1.8T quattro with 123,000 miles on. It also has a stage 2 chip plus intake, exhaust upgrades.
Even before buying, I was concerned about the longevity of the turbo motor.
What is the forums experience?
What is the standard boost on the engine (and compression ratio)?

I have 105,000 on mine myself and it will soon see a BT. Just make sure you keep your OCI at 3-5K and use only synthetic oil. the most important maintiance with this engine is the timming belt which is usually a 60-70K maintiance.

Yes. Timing belt, rear seal, wheel bearings, clutch, flywheel, something on the turbo, etc. are done. I have yet to go through all receipts the owner provided ($7k!) and make a list. Will post (including pics if I figure out how it works).

These seem to run forever. I talked to my mechanic and he just did a fifth timing belt job on one (350k!!). It's all about maintaining your baby. Mine was driven by an older lady before me and she was pretty easy on it and it runs pretty well for 140k. Enjoy the new ride.

What determines when the next time belt change is needed?
Mileage?
Certain signs to observe and be vigilant about?

Tell me about it: on the 1994 Audi 100 V6 2.8 (my father still drives it in Germany), the belt "jumped" and caused an engine repaid of $2,000 plus (bent valves, etc.)!
I will get the exact mileage when the timing belt was last changed from the previous owner.
Regarding the tubo itself: what are the reported miles the turbo last before it is a goner?
