Drivetrain Stabilizer

sometimes if i let out the clutch too fast i get a nice little thud sound. its my way of knowing i let the clutch out too fast cause its the sound of the clutch biting and clamping in. since your sound happens without the clutch is engaged, i would assume, like others have said, its the mounts. dont know bout you but i have alot of movement with my stick when in gear and flooring the gas. im sure its bad mounts, and if you have alot of stick movement too, i would check those mounts.

i've got the stern polyurethane differential bushing on my rear diff and im about to have the stern power ring put on as well. i noticed with the bushing it did help with the shifting. i live just outside detroit and the roads are **** everywhere, so the old ones probably pretty worn.

That sounds like a worn u-joint to me, I know I have to get a rebuilt driveshaft at some point, its like $400 with a refundable $130 core charge. That thud at lower RPMs and in lower gears is because the U-joint is worn, there is extra space in the bracket, and when you apply all that torque in low gear it thuds when it shifts, if that makes any sense. When you are up to speed the driveshaft is already spinning quite fast so it's not a prevalent (sp?)
I could be wrong, but thats what I would look into. Do people here agree?
