Default Drivers door doesn't open

Hi.
Audi A4 1997 (B5?) salloon.
The door opens from the outside but not from the inside. The central locking and the 'door lock' button all work perfectly. I have taken off the trim panel (via the Haynes manual) and there is nothing obviously wrong. I have compared it to the other doors and basically when the door release lever is pulled, the stiff wire cable moves but nothing happens to the locking mechanism! At the moment to get out of the door I wind down the window and pull at the door catch. Any advice chaps? Thanks!

hehehe, fixed it! Yesterday I concentrated on the locking mechanism but in fact just behind the inner door lever is a flexible rod that is clipped into place (the clip's recess providing the reaction to operate the mechanism). It had fallen out and I just clipped it back in.

That's actually pretty funny, Cause Mine did the same exact thing. But I figured it out right away cause The handle just pulled open way to quick. It actually happend to me a few times before I bent it and made sure it woudlnt' do it again.
