Default Double Din Nav in A4

Got all the pieces to convert my A$ to double dine, been looking at Audi Nav systems, see some on Ebay total head unit self contained 04 07. I have a Audi dismantler who is selling a 02 set-up he said it has no CD player but goes in the dash, I'm thinking the early units had a separate head unit and a separate maybe trunk Nav unit that he is talking abt .Can anyone enlighten me, and tell m whats plug and play? I'm wondering if it's just easier to get a E-nabay aftermarket unit they are cheaper.

u want the rns-e unit.

i believe.
if u g to ebay and look up and pioneer avh-p3200 or 4300 and add nav it only 400-600.
sorry if i have the exact model number wrong, some come with nav but the nav piece is only around 100 to 200 on top of the non nav unit, its an addon that is updated per internet i believe. worth looking in to.

e - uses one navigation dvd
d - i think has 10 different ones

both double din, the rns-e will require some modification and works better with 2000 and up can bus cars, you can make a can bus emulator. I don't know about the d because it doesn't make sense when you have the option of the e. The d fits our dash and the e needs some trimming but it so close its not a problem.

So, I'm assuming the E is the newer version and do they both play Cd's, have bluetooth and Ipod hookup?

i have only ever seen the rns-e, in older models(b5 and b6, event he b7 i believe), ones with separate cd i think only come int he b8, and new model a6, a8, q5 etc.

the RNS-E should be a direct swap in model, i dont think u need any special wiring harnesses, however i have never dealt with them personally. rns-e does have a cd/dvd in the unit it self, as for ipod/bluetooth i dont know of their ability..

as for the pioneers, they have all of those.

b5 rs4 came with the rns-D the RNS-e that we need is out of an a6, color doesn't match quite right and needs some minor trimming. if you have the symphony this is really not a hard swap. The downfall of the rns-d is you have one cd/dvd slot and thats all. the rns-e has two sd slots you load music to and play from them or an iPod while you keep the one nav dvd in.
