Door will not fully close unless slammed shut
Hi,
I am a new poster here and need some advice. I have a A4 saloon, 97 model, 260,000 miles on the clock and going strong. However the passenger door will only shut if slammed, or pushed. I have oiled the mechanism and the door hinges and all works well.
Is the mechanism worn and needs replacing or something else?
I should add that as I hardly ever take passengers the door is seldom used - just annoys me, and gives the impression to others that it is a poor car, which it is not. No other issues with the other doors.
Many thanks
G

Mine does this aswell.. Found out that its easier to close it if I lift it a bit up.
There are two torx screws at the bottom of the door and an unbraco behind a plastic cover on the top.. Those are the screws that needs to be fiddled with, don't know the exact procedure though. Perhaps putting some washers before the door on the lower ones will fix your problem.
If you go to a body shop and get a result, please tell!

Well. It is solved now. Instead of just oil, I used lubricating spray thoughout the mechanism, and at the same time cleaned all around the door seal and in the lower right corner below the door hinges where there was quite a build up of debris. Closes very sweetly. I am pleased now.
By the way my Audi has done so many trouble-free miles and still only needs one oil top up between services (6000miles).
