The smell is pretty much always the oil burning on the exhaust manifold. My 2.8 does this... on both banks... even after "repairing" it...... Check your entire PCV breather system. Most likely 1 or more is cracked and then look into changing the valves associated with it too. When the hoses are cracked or (more likely to cause a problem) when the valves are clogged up it can lead to excess pressure in your crank case and even valve cover causing it to push oil past the seals. If not delt with this can cause premature failure of your external seals but also the burning oil in you combustion chamber (not always a symptom) can lead to carbon-ed up rings and loss of compression.

My advice, check it out. If you're not sure what your looking at either have a forum member look or take it to a good shop. Even if you just pay them to diagnose it then fix it yourself it would be a good thing to do.

Well after looking over the car for about an hour and it doesn't leak oil at all. How would I check the pcv system?
Edit: While the car was running, I took the oil cap off and it literally flew off, due to really high pressure. Is the head supposed to even have positive pressure? On my camry the head was under vacuum..

Well I started the car up, and started smelling for oil, but near the back half of the fuel rail, kind of in the fpr region, I smelled tons of gas. Is that supposed to happen?
