hey whats up guys....

There somthing thats been bothering me bout my A4 and thats the fact that my side marker lights only come on when the blinker is on....

Does anyone know an easy way to have them on with the parking lights and just flash when you put the turn signal on?....

If not what I was thing was that I could use relay like what you use in your stereo system when you have alot of amps...and conect it tothe side markerso that when the parkin lights are on the the side markers are on...you still with me?

Ok so heres where I need help when the parkin lights are on and you put the turn signal on I was thinking if theres a way to switch the relay off using the power from the turn signal lead....which would effectivly flash the side markers opposite the turn signals....

anyone who knows relays or has an alternative to this method please share...thanks

And yes it really bothers me that there not on with the other lights...Why should they be left out?

Ok, here's a scenario. Your parking lights are already on. You go to use the turn signals. Since the side marker is already lit, its not going to flash in sync with the headlight turn signals. When the side marker is lit, the front headlight turnsignals would beoff. U do you know what i'm saying? I suppose you could create a circuit that would check to see if the turn signals were on and inhibit the parking signal for x amount of seconds. But then again you said "Does anyone know an easy way" I'm probably completely wrong though.

yeah I know what yah mean in that the turn signal will flash opposite the side markers which is not a problem for me......

But what I guess I need to know is: Is there a switch on a normal relay to shut it off when its still getting the signal to be on from the parking lights....?

I know when I use a relay to wire a system I use three prongs ones -negative/ground ones +positive constant power and ones+positive remote turn on lead(in this case would be parking lights) but theres still like three prongs that im clueless about could one shut the switch off if I apply a +positive charge to it?

Ill probly try this theory out but If anyone could give me the stait s**t on these things Id rather not blow one up f**kin wit it....Or maybe Im goin at this all wrong?

Why is it the little things in life that drive you crazy like those damn lights that dont get to play all the reindeer games?

Well relays come in different varieties. Normally closed, normally open, etc... I'm not sure how much you know about componant electronics. Yeah in this relays normail state of not being energized it allows the lightbulb to light up. When the turn signal comes on, the relay becomes energized. The coil in the relay will act as a magnet and pull the switch downbreaking the path of for theelectricity to the light bulb. Now the relays you use may not have4 leads, they could have 3.Sometimesyou are suppose to mount the relay to a chassis ground, usually accomplished when you screw it down to metal. Hope this works.
