Default dip stick!

Driving along tonight and thought I was smelling oil.

Got to my destination, went in. After 30 minutes came out and checked the oil.

Oil is about 1/4" above the full line.

There is a plastic casing around the top of the recepticle where the dip stick goes - it seems to be cracked/broken. Is there a good way to fix it? any glue that is reliable in that environment? A replacement piece?

Thanks!

PS - I have that late-mod 2001 1.8t engine that takes a 5 wire o2 sensor.

Thanks! Do you know the part number? I'm not even sure what to call the dang thing. (somehow I don't think it is 'dip stick recepticle' - but who knows?)

Thanks!

In my case (2001, 1.8t, awm) the magic phrase was "AWM Oil Dipstick Funnel Boot ". Of course it's an Oil dipstick Funnel boot! Everyone knows that!

Cost of the part is about $16 including s&h.

Evidentaly a cracked or broken Oil Dipstick Funnel Boot can cause vacuum/pressure problems that can cause CEL MIL errors

Does anyone know exactly what errors can be caused by a cracked/broken AWM Oil Dipstick Funnel Boot?

Is there a DIY for replacing the AWM Oil Dipstick Funnel Boot?

Thanks!
