Default difference between 01 a4 and 01 TT engine?

Same motor, both quattro, what did they do to get 225hp out of the TT quattro and not the 01 a4 quattro?

the car is smaller and weighs a lot less... they might have done something else but i think that has a lot to do with it

a car being smaller doesn't make the power output any higher...but the TT has a different turbo (ko4 of some sort) and tuning. But the ko4 is only on the 225 version. Not to mention the engines are mounted transverse, rather than our longitudinal mounting (this wont change the power output either). TT's were made to be quick little sports cars, and A4s were made to be average luxury sedans.

Ok so they have a bigger turbo with tuning to support it. I read something about they have different sensors, like the MAF is different.

the maf is a little bit bigger. some A4 software calls for the use of a TT maf. its pretty much just the K04/tuning that makes the little difference. the TT's haldex based quattro is completely different from the T2 torsen based quattro that A4s have.

Ok, one post to show all the diff.

01 225TT
ko4-20 turbo charger
380cc injectors
twin smic
9:1 compression
20mm wrist pin piston
Thicker rods (same as in AEB A4)
3" od maf
non-VVT
narrowband o2 sensor
extra webbing in the block (make no diff since all blocks are strong)
obviously, different oil pan and oil pick up due to transverse.

01 AWM
Ko3s turbo
285cc injectors
9.5:1 compression
19mm wrist pin piston
Slightly weaker rods (tapered for pins)
2.75 od maf
VVT
single smic
wideband o2 sensor
again, oil pick up and pan

Both are interchangeable as long as you have the correct cam tensioner to match the ecu and oil pan

So your saying it would the possible to install a TT engine in an A4? Would you install it transverse or longitudinal.

While it would be possible, would most likely be a better Idea to just go 2.0 with your current block

^^ Well, since the B5 platform is based on a longitudinal-mounted engine/drivetrain, you'd probably have to put the engine in there longitudinally.

(just bustin' yer nuts, man)

either that or transplant the whole transmission and suspension too. a longitudinal transmission obviously wouldnt match up to a transverse engine.
