Exclamation did my clutch go out or is it stuck??

i have been driving my car and i thought that i needed a new clutch cuz it was really deep and long, but mechanic told me that that is the way audi clutches are that they are really long that my clutch was fine. then today in the morning i was driving perfectly fine, i came to a complete stop and left the car on on neutral. then as i wanted to take off my clutch pedal was really soft with no resistance whatsoever and i could not put the car onto any gear. basically my clutch is not engaging. could it be my clutch or is it stuck or something more simple than a new clutch

i drive a 98 B5 1.8 T

please any help

could be a bad slave cylinder, broken hose. does your brakes work?

Did you try pumping the clutch and then see if it would go into gear? Could be that there is some air in the line and you just need to bleed the slave.

If the disk was stuck your pedal wouldn't get soft. Usually that has to do with the slave, fluid or something broke causing there to be no tension on the slave.

Just like bleeding the brakes. There is a small valve on the side of the slave cylinder. You can use a pump or have someone pump up the clutch pedal to bleed the slave.

well when your slaves do something naughty you need to teach them a lesson by draining them of blood.

sorry i couldnt help myself. but seriously, its like bleeding the brakes to get the air out of them.

can you put the car in gear with the engine off, and then start it? what happens?

when the car is off i can put the car on 1st and 2nd gear and then engage clutch and turn it on but the car goes forward, then stalls as if i was letting my clutch out in second gear.

i will try draining the slaves and see if that works.

thank you
