I do too - I love my chrome mirrors on a silver car (see sig pic). As for the CF wrap, do the base of the mirror and that's it - it'll blend nicely with the look of your car and won't be a glaring mod. Couple it with the chrome mirrors and it'll look great. I'd avoid tge RS burnished mirrors - it's a brushed silver finish that looks great on anything other than silver. On your car it'll probably look more like you took steel wool to your mirror housings.

I agree, the whole mirror wrapped in CF would be a little much, plus I love the way the chrome housing looks in your sig pic. What do you guys think about wrapping the side trim pieces in CF too? Just the outer b-pillar trim and the little triangular piece behind the rear side window.

Yep it'd work well with your car's look. PM Jiggleo - he can wrap those parts for you no sweat.

I'll probably do it then.

On a related note, what's the best way to restore all that faded rubber molding around the windows? I'm hoping I don't need to replace it to make it look all dark and new again.

You can try using peanut oil on it - that will remove wax from the rubber. Follow it up with some Back to Black and see if that does it. if not, you could remove it (some parts are easy, some are a real pain) and spray it down with paint or rubberized undercoating.

Yep that's the Stuff. Works great for removing wax so maybe it can help you too.

I'll use the peanut oil in the spring when I wax my car, thanks for the tip.

I can't believe how ridiculously expensive the auto dimming mirror glass is. It's about $500 on ECS for both sides, and that's just the glass!! Where's the cheapest place to find them? I know junkyards have them, but would it really be worth the savings to get a part that may just fail again in no time?

No one knows of a cheaper place to find the glass?

Would it be worth getting from a junkyard? Would a newer model mirror glass fit?

Junkyard is definitely worth a look. The later facelift cars are different than most of tge B5s (at least the housing is), but I can guarantee from personal experience that on my 99, both a 99 A6 and a B5 Passat share glass that will fit fine.
