Default CV Joint

A4/B5(2000)/1.8T/FWD/Automatic/ATW engine

Fixing up after my mechanic. He replaced the CV boot and I end up with the axel out of the CV joint when makeing a U turn. I need some help with all this washers, I have a feeling that they ar to many in this GKN CV Boot kit.

I hope u can see the pictures. Thank You!

LOL the mechanic that did the work was a hack, i would take it back to him and rip him a new one. The spring washer sits against the spacer washer on the inside of the joint, the entire outer cv joint pushes against that, then the circlip holds it all in. Push the assembly thru the hub and torque the living crap out of the bolt 100+ ftlbs, plus a 90* turn with a breaker bar.

The bolt at the hub is torqued to yield and is thus a one time use. I'm guessing that the mechanic tried to reuse it. Go back to your "mechanic" and get your money back.

I'm doing it my self this time. What i'm trying to say is that by using the SPRING and SPACE washers IT IS IMPOSIBLE for the CIRCLIP to pass the JOINT and lockit in place (as tested in the picture)

I only see the inner journal race, but the joint together first. Then use the old bolt to screw into the end of the joint and hammer in the joint until you hear the classic "thud" letting you know its up against the space/spring washer, you should then be able to insert the circlip.
