Custom Nav Unit Install

Custom Nav Unit Install
I just ordered the Pioneer Avic D-3 Nav system. Only problem is that I have a B5 so I was wondering what my options were as far as installing it. I'm pretty handy and after checking out this writeup I think I could handle something like that. But what are my other options? Other than the $200 custom install I could have done at the local shop. Thanks guys.

I got a double din nav in my 03 A4. i just went to like best buy or anywhere that sells audio parts and got a radio install kit (the kit that turns you double din to a single din), and i just cut the middle divider out.

That kit will nto work, as us B5ers have single din. The only solution i see is a custom work to make spacce for the double din. Let me know how stuff goes, i was planning to getting the avic d3 also, but holding back until i know i can fit that beast in my car lol.

If you have a B5 whip out the saw. That's the only option. And if you were lucky like me, the faceplate is made of pot metal with wood over it...that means the duramix doesn't like it as much. Anyways, it can be done, still need to find a way to keep the bottom of my plate flush though. It keeps popping out about half an inch or so.
