CUSTOM FRONT SPEAKER ADAPTORS. PICS! *EDIT
I bought my car with blown out front speakers unfortunately. so today i finally went down to circuit city and got some 5 1/4" pioneers. total cost was alittle under $60. Wasnt going all out. just wanted something better than the **** ones i had.
so i went out took off the door panels, took out the old speakers and went to place the new ones inonlyto realize they didnt fit. New ones had 4 screw holes opposed to the stock 3. After thinking what i could do i came up with the idea of making custom adaptors. So i looked around and decided that a ping pong paddle would be my best bet, suprisingly. so after removing the grip and trimming. heres how it fit
it fit suprisingly well.after a few more cuts and measuring i placed it back and it started taking form
screwed it into place. then after making some pre made hole i then screwed the speaker into place. fit perfect.
Doing the first door and testing everything out probally took an hour, only because i am not experienced in audio. The second door took about 15 min.
After all a successful diy. just thought id share. thanks!

i went to circuit city and they only had 2 speaker kits that were as small as 5 1/4. these pioneers and some sonys that were double the price of the pioneers

Circuit City has pretty much stopped carrying anything really nice for car systems. They sell cheap and middle of the road, but nothing great. I think the most expensive head unit I've seen there lately is under $300. I hooked up my lady's '93 SL2 with a sony X-Plod with I-Pod connect and 4 decent speakers for $400. Great for basic upgrade or replacement in an older or lesser car, but I wouldn't put it in my Audi. Gotta look elsewhere for the good stuff now.

yea thats true and if i wanted to seriously replace my whole system i would have gotten nicer stuff. but i wasnt lookng to spend much.saving all my extra money for some wheels. this was kinda a random project. so the price was good and suprisingly they sound really good. glad i didnt spend alot.
