Default CTS??

Hey i have a 98 Audi a4 1.8t with 70k miles.

About a month ago my car suddenly stopped working , the starter sounded like it was working but it wouldnt turn over to the engine.
I took it to the garage and themechanic told me my CTS went bad and my cylinder was flooded with fuel(the reason why it wouldnt turn over) so he replaced the sensor and my spark plugs. He also told me that i might have a coolant leek and i did notice it after But than a couple days later it went away.

Last week,I noticed my Coolant Temperature Gaugewas fluctuating until it finnaly stopped working. than a day later i had let my girlfriend drive it and she had accidentallyput in 87octance fuel (not sure if that causes any problems besides knocking). The next day it stopped working. When i go to start it, it just keeps trying to start but never turning over.

Did my CTS sensor go bad already? Is there a way i can check if its bad?

Thank You

There should be codes, you need to read them. Even w/o a cel, there are codes. The CTS wont die that fast. The black ones have problems and arent available anymore. It would of been replaced with a green one, that is if you dont have a blue one stock (diffent fitment and works fine).

As for the gas, it will just pull timing due to some knock, just keep filling it up with 93 to increase the octane rating.

can someone explain how a coolant sensor keeps the car from starting? or did i misread that?

i can see how a MAF could flood the engine and keep it from starting....
