CT emissions help
hey guys i have a 2001 audi a4 v6 30v and have to take it to emissions, i have never been to emissions before so i have no idea what the deal is, are there anythings you guys can tell me about what goes down in CT.
im concerned about the tint, and i have to replace my vaccum lines before hand, i also changed my oil the other day. the car has about a 120,000 miles on it, and the only code i got was the 144 something code for the vaccum or some valve i think.
thanks in advance guys.

RE: CT emissions help
They will do a visual inspection for any broken lines or missing parts (PCV ect.) So replace any vaccum and PCV lines that you see are frayed or broken. Window tint doesn't have anything to do with emmisions, if its against the law in that state, a trooper will pull you over to fix that. You also can't have more than 2 fault codes in the ecm, and 0 emmisions related fault codes.

RE: CT emissions help
I live in CT and my buddy does emissions testing, he wont check your tints or anything like that but I know that if you have a check engine light dont bother to take it because it wont pass. They plug their cpu to your obd port inside your check were you do the check engine light and as long as everything clears your all set. They wont put your car on rollers or anything. i also have a local mechanic that does evrything including our crazy timing belt replacement! Let me know if you need more help, pm me your number

^ DavidTurbo is correct. Emissions fee is $20 cash or check. Clear your codes and fix your vacuum leaks, new spark plugs, O2 sensors, etc before you go, or you will have to go back within 30 days. If it fails the second time, Iheard that you need to have a certified mechanic fix the problemand sign off that the job was done correctlyand the vehicle passes. Some places still use the dyno type rollers, but not where I went last year - Valenti Pontiac in Waterbury. Lots of placesto go in Milford/Orange on the PostRd.
