Default Cruise Control?

Anyone have an idea where the cruise control relays would be located?

I replaced the unit on the steering column and that did not give me CC back. I was told there is a relay in the brake or clutch (beings I have a manual) area.

Need to know year, model, and drivetrain of your car (go to the new member area and see my sticky post about 2 actions for all new members - it'll tell you how to create a signature with this so you don't have to list it every time). In some A4s (like my 99) there's a cruise control box above the glovebox, brown in color and about the size of a pack of smokes. You can pull it out, remove the circuit card, and heat it with a heat gun to lightly reflow the solder - on some cars the solder cracked and caused issues.

Sorry... never took the time to do that. I've never checked if mine is the 12v or the 30v in the 2.8, but think it is the 30v.

It should have it now

Many people have partially or non-functioning cruise control in their B5's. I went on a 2,200 miles road trip with my dad summer '10 in my A4 without cruise control (my leg was killing me...) but it has since been fixed.

In my case the contacts on the CC switch were slightly corroded, so I cleaned them up. The CC still didn't work. Pulled the module as ImTheDevil suggested above, put fresh solder on 3 particular square capacitors on the circuit board, and voila my CC has worked flawlessly ever since.

Sounds like I am going to see about the box option as I had replaced once and cleaned once the control arm that the cruise control is on.

I've driven from Seattle to Tampa, Tampa to Boston and Boston to Seattle without CC, so I feel your pain!

So true. Mine partially works, in that I can set cruise but can't use the accel/coast functions. It's been that way since I bought the car in 2003, and it never bothered me enough to want to repair it to 100% functionality.
