Creeking sound on gear lever.

Creeking sound on gear lever.
Hi
I recently (December 2014) bought An Audi A4, 1997, 1.8L Automatic. i have driven it for less than 2000km, of late it packed a left cv joint and i replaced it however on driving the car the gear transmittion indicator would occassionaly go off and on(displaying wrong gears) and whenever that happened a creeking sound would be heard on the gear lever, the gear lever would actually be vibrating. Now the sound has died down and the vehicle stays in one gear, when parking i shift to first gear as D has lost power, R functions perfectly without any delays. Transmittion display now stays on drive and sometimes goes off.
could this have anything to do with a need for changing transmittion oil. i just hope and pray the transmittion is ok.

I think your transmission is screwed up. Sorry Can you take it to a mechanic to see what they say? Sounds are really important with transmissions so it's hard to diagnose on a forum.
I don't think your trans fluid would have any affect here assuming it's at the right levels and doesn't have a major leak. Has it had any transmission fluid issues since you've had it? Can you ask the person you bought it form about transmission issues?
As an aside, are you really from Mozambique?
