cracked my oil pan!

I would use quicksteel instead of jb weld. You can need it up and press it into the hole/crack and it holds up well. I put a small crack in my pan about 9 months ago, and i had a tube of that stuff in my toolbox. I planned on it being temporary, but its held up amazingly well. I actually didn't even drain my oil, I just let the engine cool down and smeared it on.

still, theres no telling when you are driving down the highway and the jb weld decides to let go. by the time you turn the engine off it may already be too late. i really would spend the $50 on a used oil pan over driving with the possibility of destroying my engine. with the way luck tends to work, it would happen on some back road at 1am 50 miles from civilization. it may be an ok temp fix to get the car home, or maybe drive on it for a few days while you wait for a replacement, but i would be extremely careful with it on there. it may last 5 years or it may last 2 weeks, it may break tomorrow, theres no way to tell which is why that is a bad idea.

hahahaha, i don't mean to laugh, but i did the same thing today.
I just shook my head, jacked up the car and began removing stuff. I have it ready to drain tomorrow and i'm running to audi to grab a new pan. It's not really a fun diy project, but it saves quite a bit of cash. The subframe has come down, but you can sneak in there if you remove the engine, snub, and trans mounts and jack up the powertrain.
I think we need a deiselgeek panzer plate group buy. http://www.dieselgeek.com/servlet/detail?no=375

The Panzer Skid plate is $250 + shipping and will probably last a lot longer. The OEM skid plate doesn't stand a chance on lowered A4s.

After almost completing the oil pan on my 1.8T, I've decided I never want to have to do that again if I don't have to. I'm saving for the Panzer plate. You could try Shokan to see if they have a used one in decent shape.
