Default cooling loop cracked?

I'm working to get a 2000 1.8 back into operation. One of the things I noticed was that it was leaking power steering fluid. It appeared to be leaking at the joint of the cooling loop and hose.

I cut the last inch of the hose, and used a screw clamp to resecure the hose to the loop. And it still leaked. I took the hose off and felt around the cooling loop itself, and I can feel what looks like a small crack along the length of the tube in the area where the hose would clamp.

has anyone else had the cooling loop tube crack?

thanks,

Seems like a strange place to crack. The cooling loop is simply a section of soft aluminum tubing. I've had a leak there as well. It was the clamp that had cut into the hose and caused it to leak.

I cranked the clamps down more and so far no leaks. I could see what looked like a fine crack on the outside, but it didn't go thru
