Do you know what temp the oil should be on?

 

1.8T runs hotter, more so if chipped, but should be around 200 more or less in the summer depending on variables. Never seen much above that.

Get your yr/engine/etc. in your sigs!

 

i'll look at mine next time i drive(as a reference for you) and try and report back here i am not stock nor just tuned but i have an 01 1.8 so it might be helpful at least... we have 90* days with 90% humidity so that will tell you what i see


my thermo temps are always dead center

 

Mine was like that when I bought it a new thermostat fixed it. (it was stuck open) There is and oil cooler so if you have very low coolant temps it can cool your oil down below normal. Try the thermostat and engine coolant temp sensor since you already bought it first.

 

My oil temp gauge mark's like between 200 and 250 is that about right?
