coolant question (I seached )
ok so my car has dex cool in it and i have replaced my temp sensor about a year ago and since my car was switched to dex-cool by the tech that did my timming belt my temp gauge on the dash never finds it's way to the middle unless im sitting in traffic for a while then it will drop below the middle mark once i start moving. normally the needle on the tempgauge is on the first bar after i get an oil temp of 150 if i really push the car i might get a oil temp of 200 (in the middle of the oil gauge) but my coolant gauge will still not be in the middle of the gauge. do i have something wrong or is this acually good that i never hit normal running temp according to the temp gauge?? could the mixture of water to coolant be off which is cause this??

RE: coolant quetion (I seached )
I don't know I could answer your question, but if I had to guess I would first suggest checking out the radiator fan. It's a clutch type and if the clutch locked up then the fan would always being trying to cool the radiator. See if it spins freely (with the motor off!), it should. If it doesn't then there's your problem. Other than that I dont' know what else to look into but maybe the t-stat.
Usually your gas milage will not be as good if the car is running too cool. Better to have the temp guage straight up and steady- not going up and down.

well, that sounds about right. I expected it to be locked up. Hmmmm.....
Thats a bit perplexing. Does the coolant temp ever go above normal (normal being straight up and down)?
The only other things I could relate the problem to is a faulty t-stat or or a bad temp sensor (even wiring to the temp sensor could be the problem). I know you've replace both of these recently, but it's possiblem that one of these parts was defective right out of the box....
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

i did change the ect it did the same thing with the old ect and new ect, so the likey hood of 2 ects having the exact same issue is very unlikely to happen unless there is another issue

i think that it is the fan control switch but i noticed there is 3 temp opitions and i can't seem to figure out where the fan control switch is under the hood
i have done lots of goggle searchs and i only can find info on the s4 and a after run pump
