Default Codes

1.8t AWM
Codes from the new b5.5... p1116 p1103 p1531 p0012 p0130 p1479 p1602 p1517. With out driving it and just letting it idle for a few mins the two that came back p1531 p1116.

So the P1531 is the Camshaft Timing Adjustment: Open Circuit which seems like it would explain the loud knock I have. Ideas?

P1116 is Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating Bank 1 Sensor 1: Open Circuit which who knows. I'm mostly worried about the P1531... I have a video I will post in a few mins of the car running...

I i mistaken on the year of the car. I show the AWM engine in Audi vehicles starting in 2001 not 1999?
has the engine been swapped?

Looks like your front o/2 sensor heater is shot.

You will have to also check camshaft adjuster for power & activation.

Anyone with 5000+ posts on the Audi Forums & own a Audi should own a Vag-Com by now! Just my opinion.
They have bi-directional testing & factory codes #'s that can help with diagnostics. You can also see what is a hard code & a pending code.

B5.5= VW, not Audi.

I'd start with replacing the pre-cat O2 sensor and the cam position sensor and see where that leaves you.

O.K. we are dealing with a race car? I am assuming by the the way the car accelerated on the video.

I agree with the o/2 sensor but the description for the other code is for camshaft adjuster , not a cam sensor! 2 different components.
If we had factory codes to go on it would help.

Well the Audi's I own are OBD-I so no vag com but I do own 6 scanners which is how I pulled the codes! It's harder when I can't drive the car to activate new codes and it just has to idle. I'm already looking at a cam valve it's only $120 but I was asking if there might be any other causes to trip that code. Thank you though.

The one under my name is my old A4 AEB

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the 01 b5.5 A4 have a AWM also? Which is why I cross posted it here. Same motor. doesn't matter if VW or Audi

You're right Don, its exactly the same motor. I was just pointing out to that dude that the term "B5.5" refers to Passats. 01.5 A4's like mine also run the AWM 1.8t.
