clutch question
#3
I've driven a few manual B5's, and the clutch is always high. At the same time, the switch that lets you start the car is pretty low. I'm guessing this is a safety idea as the engagement point is a ways away from the interlock point that let's you start the car.

If you are worried about the condition of the clutch disc you could always do the high gear test. Get going about 35 40 or so in fifth gear and floor it. If it grabs OK then your still pretty safe. Just as an FYI..my 96 with 240k still has the original clutch but I've babied it for awhile.
