Default Clutch Pedal sticking on it's way up

Hi Everyone,

The clutch pedal on my audi doesn't always come all the way back to the top. It gets stuck about halfway up. Is there a wheel bearing/spring or something is that going bad? I have to used my foot to pull it back up. It only happens every once in a while, but could still pose a dangerous situation.

Thanks

Wheel bearing affecting clutch pedal travel? Uh... Not in a million years.
Sounds like ya got air in the hydrolics. Check your brake fluid resevoir, if it ran dry, you have air in the system. Need to bleed it. Not sure about the correct procedure for that though.

OK, you caught me...besides oil changes, plugs and filters, I'm mechanically ignorant. So the clutch uses the hydrolic pressure from the brake system? Please explain.

Thanks so much, bleeding the brakes is much cheaper than a new cluch or tranny.

The brakes and clutch use the same fluid so.. if you bleed the brakes your also bleeding the clutch system. I had the same problem as you and we ended up replacing the slave cylinder, and the clutch master cylinder. I havn't had a problem ever since (knock on wood)

Thanks Audikiller,
Do you think I should try bleeding the brakes first? Then if that doesn't fix the problem, think it's time for a new master cylinder?

bleed the brakes first and then the slave cylinder. the slave cylinder should be on top of the tranny by the main seal on the passenger side. if you scroll on the linked page below, it'll tell you how to bleed the slave cylinder. the tool they meantion is not really needed. go to autozone and get a one-man brake bleeder tool
