Climate/Radio area buzzing/ticking - so annoying help!

I am contemplating just unplugging the power to it...does my climate control system reeeaaally need this fan to operate effectively/accurately?

i haven't had time to price this out. I listed a couple of reference numbers below. I really don't have the time to monkey around with the console and risk snapping things, as OEM parts are costly...so I was thinking I might take it to Best Buy, where I want them to install an iPod adaptor to the CD change and run the plug in up front (from exp. a PITA). They will have to remove the radio anyways, so why not give them the fan assembly and have them change that as well? I think it was only like $50 to have them install the periphirals, so figured they might just do this with it?

That must be one small *** fan, i always thought there was just a little sensor in there. The worst that could happen is that the AUTO function won't work correctly, the fan must accellerate air into the sensor measuring interior temp. If it doesn't get enough air the auto function won't be calibated right. Of course you could just set it to manual and not fix anything after un-plugging it if you wanted to be lazy.

I got a quote from http://www.PrimePartsSuperstore.com for $105.34 + shipping. I'm trying partsgeek next. If it's too much I may just unplug it. Knowing the car, it will b a PITA to pull the radio out to reach down there to disconnect it.

I pulled out the radio this weekend to disconnect that fan. When I was in there I fiddled with the line to the sensor and the wire to the fan and miraculously it stopped. It seems as if there was just a loose connection there, as it has been quiet since Saturday.
