Chipped ecu question

Chipped ecu question
I have a 98 audi a4 1.8t part car that i have access to. There were some mods done to the car, exhaust, intake, turbo timer, and a couple other things. So i thought to check the ecu to see if it was chipped. I was pulling the ecu out of a parts car i have, seeing if it was chipped. Well it is chipped. And this is coming out of the ecu. It goes to a little push button under the dash. So we tried pushing the button, in my car, while it was running and the CEL blinked 7 times, then blinked 7 more times. Well then we turned off the car, then turned it on but not started and did the same thing. This time it blinked 8 times followed by 2. We test drove it everytime to see if there was a difference in boost. I'm driving a 98 audi a4 1.8t. Does anyone have any idea what this is or how to use it.

That was the first thing we looked at to see if there was any kind of labeling on the chip. There isn't. all it says it it's an amd chip, which doesn't help anything. I'll take a closer look today to see if we missed anything. I found this video, hoping it's gonna help.

Yeah that definitely sounds like an APR flash then. To my knowledge they have 4 possible options:
1. Stock
2. Valet
3. 93 octane
4. Race gas
In California, the 93 octane map is actually only 91 octane. My guess is you have three of these four. Do you have a boost gauge? That would be one way to tell the difference between stock/valet and whatever the other one is. You might also call up APR and see what they can do for you as far as identifying the tunes.
