and yeah stage 1+ is only 01 cars and b6's because they have a k03s instead of a regular k03, among other things. and stage 1+ actually puts out almost the same power as a k04.

 

Well just got off the phone with unitronics, $500 for stage 1 91oct, $550 for stage2 a little more aggresive and can be done to a 99 car, Stage 2 which is for a car that has a free flowing exhaust and down pipe $600. Each reflash for those is $50-60 plus the dealer would charge $50. Their big turbo setup is $890 and they discount half of your previous flash. So for instance if you do stage 1 $500 they give you a $250 discount off the $890 = $665 for the upgrade, $275 for stage 1+ and $300 for stage 2=$590 for their bt upgrade. So I dont know what I'm going to do!!!Damn it!

 

thats messed up. with the other companies stage 2/stage 1+ is a bigger injector file for the k03s. and when you switch to another file you just pay the difference.

well screw uni then. when you go BT you can pick up CTapp software (eurodyne) for 700 so going with uni isn't much cheaper and turns out to be more expensive when you gotta pony up 600 for sofware that GIAC and APR only sell for 400. i would get either apr or giac now, they dont need reflashes for adding just an exhaust, thats retarded. also you can sell the chip in the future and get most your money back, and then you can put that money towards the BT setup

dont know if you still want a k04 but getting a pc-16 k04 in the future will be much cheaper than a gtrs now tho. like 1300 cheaper. and you can run a gt2x off a tweaked pc-16 file, which is good for close to 300hp

 

When I was considering what BT to do I was hearing a lot of good stuff about GT28rs and t2s60 t3/t4. Just don't forget that if you go that big it's gonna cost more then just the turbo, you need exhaust, fmic and blah blah.... You'll wear out your clutch and some small things, so it'll cost more then you think. I was quoted $6K - 8K from shops (and yes I went to a few) to have everything I need done for the car to work and not fail on me. Of course it's cheaper if you do some or part of the work like I was planning, but's it's still alot to do and a lot of $$$

Unfortunately while waiting I got a GIAC chip, which I am happy with EXCEPT I can only really upgrade to a K04 without having wasted my money cause GIAC won't support BT's for a 2000 A4.

Question though? Can I run GT2X with GIAC software? Would I still need fmic? Would I wear out my clutch fast?

Chaos this is crazy! i spoke to awe tuning, they sell giac and the guy says there chip $400 then you can do a k04 program and then u can do a pc16 chip. If i do the chipe now then upgrade to the pc16 it would be $200 for injectors then $95 for the reg. and $95 for the pc16. He also said they only have one pc16 file and its specifically made for the k04. He said they dont offer an agressive file to run a gt2x. WHo sells the modified giac chip that can run a gt2x? According to awe it doesnt exist. Thanks for ur help brother!I am definatly going GIAC, they also offer a chip removal so u can put ur stock chip back (in case gas gets too crazy!)

 

gas mileage will actually be improved when you drive normal. and there is no special pc-16 file to run the gt2x, that software will just work with that turbo. you can even run a gtrs on it if you wanted. but i wouldn't suggest it cause it wont run anywhere near close to what its capable of. to get the most out of the gt2x you might need to dyno tune it a bit, but someone on vortex just swapped his k04 for a gt2x didn't touch the tuning and ran a 13.7. another guy swapped the injectors to 380's and ran a 13.3 at only 14psi (spiking 20). if he upped the boost and octane im sure he could dip into the 12's.

 

Oh ok that makes sense, I can use the stock turbowith the regular chip for now. CanI put the boost controller to that and bring the boost up myself past the 15lbs that giac puts out?What I'll do is over the next few months get the exhaust (borla), fmic (ebay), boost controller (manual maybe forge), then do the gt2x turbo-injectors and pc16 program. So be ready for me in a couple of months to a year to pick your brain again!!!lol thanks alot brother youve been a ton of help

 

yup, you can raise the boost a bit, but i wouldn't push it past 20-22psi. i thought GIAC already came at 20 psi tho. but still the mbc is more efficient than the n75, so i would suggest getting it either way. and i actually wouldn't suggest the forge mbc. some guys have had problems with that on their a4. the best one to get is the turbo xs hpbc. make sure its the hpbc tho and not their regular mbc.

 

Not sure what you guys are runnin for transmissions but with the amount of horsepower your lookin into take into consideration that the factory tiptronic in an 01 is only rated for 250 hp. and what has to be done to get my tiptronic set to sport mode. Can that be done with the vag com program or through an aftermarket chip or reprogram
