Find a better mechanic that specializes in VW Audi.
Platinum plugs are 10 dollars each and it is a 1 hour DIY replacement, not that spark plugs are the cause of your cel. Check all the hoses in the car to see if there are any cracks, etc and replace any faulty hoses.
