Cheap Performance Mods?

I just chipped my car with APR stage 1.
Before the new DV I didn't like the way the car boosted, to be honest. From -21lbs to +14lbs it was solid but still felt... meh. Like it was wasn't doing as much as it could from+15lbs onwards.
Installed a 710N (took 30 minutes.. 20 of that was lifting the car and removing the stupid underbody cover) and the boost is MUCH more solid. I can feel the power differently now. (115k on the engine, stock DV so I'm sure it was time)

The stock diverter is a plastic piece of **** that won't last long at chipped boost levels. The 710 or an aftermarket valve can handle it much better and as stated above, it won't start to bleed open when you get the thing really spooled.

Not to say that the stock DV is good, but mine lasted 2 years on the speedtuning chip.

Thanks man Lol yeah I've been creeping around lately, putting foot to *** on the spammers and throwing some posts out in the threads. Been a really busy time lately and I'm pissed at my car so my enthusiasm took a kick to the junk. Back to pollute this place though

The chip would be the best way to go. Depending on the state of the engine I wouldn't worry to much about the toll on the engine. Chip along with an exhaust with a pod filter mod to get a little better sound and spool and you will be set. An aftermarket turbo inlet hose to gain some flow would be nice as well. In terms of performance this is pretty much the cheapest options. Good luck with the car

Giac and Apr make the best chips for a stock turbo. You can ship it in to the companies or find someone local to flash it for you. I'm going to be selling my Giac chip pretty soon if you're interested

Reflect Tuning, VAG Autowerkes, or Kompressed on Audizine all sell stage 1 tunes for half of what APR, GIAC, or REVO charge.

Reflect Tuning and K0mpresd are the same guy FYI. In terms of private tuners there's also Gonzo tuning, he's considered the best out of the group. But any of these guys will write a better tune than any of the big tuners since the big guys stopped R&D over half a decade ago while the small guys are still innovating.
