Changed Fuel Filter, seems to be in Limp mode?
So I changed the fuel filter and now my car is running rich and cuts power at about 3k rpm. Had Shell reset the ecu and nothing changed. Any idea what the heck I did?
Thanks, Jon P.

i dont know what car you have, but on B5 1.8Ts its impossible to install backwards, the 'in' has a smaller fitting then the 'out' and it will be very apparent that its backwards if you try.
did you change the copper washers on the banjo fittings? you should really do that with the filter, they are $2 even from the dealer, or $1.70 from ecs.
was your old filter extremely blocked up? (you can try blowing thru it, it should have little resistance. yes you have to put your mouth on it, wipe it off with a greasey rag and be a man) if it was very clogged then maybe your ecu needs time to adjust to the new increase in fuel volume? just an idea. or maybe its a FPR issue.

it was the biggest pain in the ***. Took a good 3 hours, ended having to cut the platic strap to get the thing back up in there. And now my hasnt run right since. I know my way around cars but Audi's are somethen else.

hah yea its definately a pain to do. if you unbolt the straps, and remove the banjo nut on the bottom of the filter (the only one you can see) you can work a 2x4 or similar piece of wood up there and pry the tank to the side. this will give you enough room to get to the bolt that straps the filter in place. i just kinda jamed the new filter back up there without retightening this strap. theres no way in hell it would ever fall out.
if your fittings were loose enough to leak enough fuel the pump couldnt keep up with, you would notice a few gallons of gas underneath. even if they are slightly leaking it wouldnt cause your problems.
have you gotten the car scanned for codes yet? even if your cel isnt on there still could be something in there.
