Unhappy CEL P0302 97 a4 1.8t NOT ICM UNIT.

I have a 97 a4 1.8t. Last year I was having random misfirings, while the car was shaking violently. Replaced the ICM. Problem solved. This year, car was shaking violently again, but this time only p0302. I had spare coils so I replaced all of them. Problem not solved. I then thought maybe the ICM was bad again. I replaced it with one from a local auto parts store. Problem not solved. Then thought maybe the replacement was bad, so I bought another ICM from a different store. Still not solved. Everything I read for p0302 is ICM, ICM ICM. But I am thinking either spark plugs, igniters, or wiring. Please help!

The very first thing I would have done is plugs.. Bosch double platinums..

That code is cylinder 2 - the middle cylinder on the passenger side..

Is it misfiring all the time?

If you haven't changed your plugs then you should.. They're the first thing any shop is going to replace when a missfire is detected. Plus they should be replaced every 40-70k anyway as they become worn and cause the gap to get larger..

I forgot.. IDK how long you've had the car, but these cars are fairly picky about plugs.. I recommend the bosch double plats. If you get them DO NOT try and gap them.. They are pre-gapped and you will ruin the plug by trying.

CryptoStorm thank you for all your help. Unfortunately after replacing the plugs, coils and ICM, I am still getting the CEL p0302. Any other thoughts?
