car shuttering after TB service
Ive got a 2002 A4 3.0 Q Avant automatic, 87000 miles. Just got the timing belt serviced today at the dealer. On the way home I noticed the car shutters and has a bogged down feel when cruising the highway going up some hills. I can feel it slightly when accelerating on flat road, but it really comes out going up a hill. The dealer told me my F/R inner cv boot was torn, but there is no clicking yet so I am not sure if the two are related. Any ideas? Car ran beautifuly before the $1800 service.

Take it back right away. Sounds like the belt is off a tooth. It's easy to screw up on these cars because the timing procedure is ridiculously stupid. The tech should have caught it on the test drive, though. What dealer did you go to?

So, the dealer tells me its the front right inner cv joint that has gone bad. They said because the car was on the lift that the cv joint failed prematurely which is what is causing the vibration. So pretty much because I took my car to the dealer for a $1700 timing belt job, my cv joint failed. sounds a little sketchy if you ask me. worst part about the whole mess is I am up in Ohio visiting family and dont have any tools or vacation days left to fix it myself. Dont want to drive it back to GA with that shutter. Hopefully after the dealer fixes the cv joint..(replacing the whole axle) the problem is gone..
