Car Shakes Between 40-60mph
have a 98 AUdi A4 Quattro. 1.8t. 5 spd .
I'm having troubles when I try to speed up or slow down in 4th and 5th gear my car starts to shake really notacibly around 2.3k -3k rpm. Only when Applying the gas
The tires have little wear, but im not going to say its out of the possibility that this is the problem.
It strage because the shakes go away when I pop the car out of gear. {Car runs Smooth at any speed In nuetral}
If you have any ideas please help I like to do all the work myself but im afraid that my engine is about to go.
Im thinking its my CV Joint or engine Mounts any one have any Ideas?

dude, if your engine is running great, why would it be the enigne?
For a motor mount, rev the motor using the cable inside the bay and see if it shakes horribly.
A cv will clunk loudly while turing at sharp sharp sharp angles. Like in a parkinglot.
A wheel bearing will make your car shake but it howls like a wah wah wah wah lol
could be the tire. do a rotation and see if the shake is specific and follows the tire..
Lastly are there any lights on in the dash? what about a scan? any codes?

This could be a bad motor mount or a bad inn c/v joint. When the inners go bad you get vibration under acceleration.
Also just because the boot is good does not mean the joint is good. More & more cheep Chinese crap is making it's way into German autos.
I personally will not install any Chinese axle any more , too many problems with wear in a short period of time.

Soo...
There are no check engine lights... The car has started to vibrate when in neutral getting off the highway when my foot is not on the brake. The engine does not shake when I rev the engine. {well just a tad bit but thats normal right?}
I have had a wheel bearing out before its not making any noise like that. Im getting a balance and rotation in an hour ill let you know how it goes.
It does shake when in other gears but its verry verry small.
Im thinking its the inner cv join is there any way to tell the boot is not torn. and the shaft is not cracked.
Thanks for the help guys
