Default car is driving me crazy

I have a 2000 audi a4 quattro 1.8t.when ever I go to start my car or won't start right away. None off the dash lights will go on in the on position until 5 minutes of trying to start it. Then lights will go on and car will start. Any ideas what could be causing this. It will crank but not fire.

I am having the same issue on mine (not sure about the dash lights) First thing I would suggest is to change the coolant temp sensor. This helped my car start up a lot better on colder days. My car still doesn't start first go most mornings, A user has suggested that their is less fuel pressure going through on first crank then second as my car always fires up on second go. So the possibilities are fuel pump (not in my case, I have replaced mine) or FPR. I will be hopefully changing the FPR soon, will let you know how it goes if you haven't fixed your problem by then.

If none of your dash lights are coming on then you should check the ignition switch. They are a common problem.

Check the battery, and scan for stored ECU codes. It could definitely be an ignition switch.

We have them available below.

I have checked the codes and I'm getting codes p0411, p1128 and p1136.. Could any of these be my no starting problem. My car went from not starting well on cold starts to not wanting to start any time I try. Sometimes I will get lucky and if will start after a few tries. Some times won't start at all. I always know when it's going to start because my dash lights will turn on when key is in the on position. and if they don't come on my car will not start

Those codes have to do with emissions and the secondary air injection pump.

It might be related but I doubt it. You really need to have it scanned with VAG-COM as it will show more codes other than CEL codes.

NO. Few places have them. It's the VW/Audi system, so all VW or Audi dealers have them. A good indy Audi shop will have one. And a lot of guys here have them.

Or you could buy one. This is what I use on my B5. It's well worth it.
