Bumper paint....
So I'm not only new to the site, I'm relatively new to owning an 98 audi 2.8 a4b5. I used to own an 93 Audi 90 quattro sport that was absolutely amazing. So obviously, I had to have another audi.
Anyway. Biggest question. My Audi is a rebuild that I got for 6k. it was only a 62% insurance so the only thing that happened was the front bumper was ripped off and a small portion of the chassis was bent. The bumper I currently have is not the original and the paint is starting to speckle after having driven in the snow... I originally got a quote to have the bumper repainted because the paint was starting to kind of boil on a few unnoticeable spots, but because I love the car I obviously noticed. $333.33 is the price... But I was thinking... should I buy a bumper bra instead? Because it's only $175 bucks and it'll offer more protection for the overall bumper than a paint job will... and after I get my $333.33 paint job done I'd end up buying a bra for it anyway.... So why not skip a step?
But everyone is telling me NO! IT'LL RUIN YOUR PAINT! and I'm like "dude my paints already fucked up"
WHAT DO I DO?!

Bras work, especially in the country, but do take alittle work to keep the paint underneath good. The first thing is a good wash followed by a good coat of wax and at least once a month it needs to be removed and the bumper washed to remove the dirt/leaf buildup.. Other than that, they are a good way to hide unsightly blemishes.

hmmm, too bad it isn't 99.5+.... ecs has the front end covers on clearance for the 99.5+ b5's ($27.52 plus shipping).
Are you serious that you paid 6k for a rebuilt 98? That's crazy talk....
Anyways, I wouldn't bother repainting it if your're going to get a cover... just cover it up. It won't ruin your paint if you take care of it and take it off when you wash the car, etc. I am sure there is a thread about how to use one properly.

bras from my personal experience make the paint worse... i had one on my old iroc (came with the car) and i took it off cuz i think they are ugly, and the paint was so jacked up, cracked, faded, and rusty from trapping in rain i had to leave it on cuz it looked worse with it off... so if u do get one, make sure to keep it clean
