bumper to fender liner attachment?

bumper to fender liner attachment?
I took the bumper off to do a timing belt change, and I'm reattaching the front bumper. At the trailing edge of the bumper there are some flaps that attach to the fender liner.
My problem is that the attachments from the bumper to the fender liner don't line up. It's like there's a part missing. Does anyone have good pics of this area they could send? I'll try to dig up a parts diagram too, but I need close up pics so I can see what this area is supposed to look like.
On a related note. The liner is damaged, and replacements are like $150. Or partsgeek found a cheap one for less than $20, but note says something about a 2002 late design (but website also says it fits my 2000). Any wisdom there? I'd normally go the money for the correct part, but I've already dropped a lot of money to get this car running right, with more to go, and a part I can get by with for awhile sounds like a deal.
thanks for any help.

Have you tried Wolf Auto Parts? I live in South Africa, but have bought so many parts for my car from them. They aren't that cheap, but cheaper than new parts and at least you know you're getting a genuine Audi part.
Basically, they strip old Audi's that have been scrapped and sell the good parts off. It's worth fitting a salvaged "peripheral" part such as this that's "under the skin" because its not an aesthetic item.
Wolf sell parts on eBay all the time, perhaps do a search for this on eBay?
