broken tube in engine

Default broken tube in engine

what is this tube? It is filled with gunk. It is really frail and just snapped when i touched it. This is a '99.5 2.8Q 5V

ITs the breather system for the engine. That gunk is oil bypass. You need to clean it out and either fix it or replace it.

either tape it back together with this black tape they sell at the parts store that is heat resistant. or if you don't care, duct tape it until you have enough money to buy a new one. daym thing is expensive. another thing you can do is rig up your own hoses

easiest is to just cut off the cracked parts and use a larger diam hose over that section, but the best is just replace it all so you can get rid of the clog also

i used to get a big piece of heat shrink tubing to put on it. I works great and looks clean.

I think i am going to just shrink tube it for now. My concern is that since the tube is clogged, probably the tube that it connects to (top right of pic) is also clogged, along with other things. What is the function of this in my engine?

either or. 5v per cylinder. just being humble to the people with only 24v.

mine broke when I was changing my spark plug wires I just replaced it with neoprene tubing and that has worked out pretty good
